takeover of 'CUM' magazine...... thank you Ben!
NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION was a temporary platform for contemporary art and critical debate in Canterbury, a City with little representation of experimental art and its critical concerns, outside of the academic boundaries of KIAD’s Canterbury campus.
The project intended to promote individual artists whose practice is innovative, experimental and challenging, and at the same time create a discursive environment that artists can identify with and consequently develop from.
As well as developing a network of artists and thinkers across the South East, NFHC hoped to establish a local awareness of contemporary art practice and issues that engage emerging artists, particularly graduates. It was not a commercial project, but instead a profile raising springboard for artists with promise.
NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION was lead by Canterbury based artist Lucy Panesar (www.lucypanesar.com) and assisted by technical wizz Richard Cobelli (www.illeboc-r.com ). The project was developed with the help of Sandra Pearson (Artist Open House), and Susanna Atkins and Paul Macnamara at The Goods Shed.
